In The Window
Her face is dolorous from the passing storm. Her expression is caught in the window. The semblance painted, in the way she wants. Dainty visage, pale like the first snow.
And there it all is, Caught in a window.
Just catch a glimpse, for just a moment. To see her faltering smile, the way her eyes cry. But she flutters it all away in the instant, a blink. And she looks up, to recognize, to the unforgiving sky.
You didn’t see it but it was, Caught in the window.
The way she masquerades, as the bell of the ball. The way she smiles, as the false sense she portrays. And hopefully they don’t see the way she lies. And they’re pawns in the game she plays.
But it was there and it was, Caught in a window.
Iridescent in the sunlight, like a ghost. Her eyes lay dark and empty, dead against her face. And if you see them flash to realize she’s let you gaze, She’ll look away in the way she does, to hide lost grace.
But you saw it, her tears, Caught in her window.

This made smile. Honestly, when I first read it, I was reminded of a painting of someone, so perfect, so surreal then on the second stanza, you make the readers feel melancholy towards the girl, the object of the poem for something that they don't even know but feel sympathy for. My favorite was the third stanza. Ever listen to Evanescence? The third line sounds like Everbody's Fool. About a girl hiding behind a mask, a facade. I like how you portray the last stanza as well. It talks of how she is shy to show her true self to anyone, shunning everyone away.
My interpretation on what the window is in this poem is her eyes. Because the eyes are the windows of the soul. Heh. and the person talking about the girl in the poem is trying to see her as what she really is, to see her soul and it can only be seen through her eyes, in the window.
