Dawn breaks in the distance. Blades of grass awake anew. Tulips spread wide their petals as flowers instinctively do.
Gray clouds veil the sunshine. Warmth evades the wind. Voices inside me echo, “His love he does rescind.”
Thoughts of you torment me. Sorrow bludgeons my soul. Left incomplete without you I am but half, no longer whole.
Your words cleave my essence, “Our love affair is through.” Condemned, my barren vessel aches desperately for you.
Madness deadens my senses. Tears flow from eyes that sting. The breath within me falters, while outside the sparrows sing.

Wow, this was very expressive and the flow just drew me farther in. The last lines lends a surreal quality to this piece.

i really love how you use a sparrows song to deepen your sadness...as if the happier the outside world is the deeper the knife plunges into your heart! great job!
