I should’ve taken the time, To walk around and find your place, So I could’ve said one more hello And said one more good-bye. Now, I know it would’ve been My last hello and my last good-bye, Since Sunday afternoon you died Surrounded by your family. You’ve been here for me And my family for over twenty years. We’ve known each other since I was born, You were the one I followed Around through the church And respected so highly, But yet I couldn’t take the time To say one more hello And one more good-bye. I seen you and hugged last year, But I never said the words That should’ve been said. You spent so many years, looking for the cure. The cure that would take away your pain And let you live, the cure for cancer. You found the cure that is pain free And gives you all the peace you deserve. You never found the cure to let you live on Earth, But instead you found the cure of eternal life. It’s so comforting to know That you’re walking the streets of gold And you’re no longer in pain. Rest in peace, my friend...
For VERNON “Big V” VAN NATTA Jan. 12, 1944 - June 20, 2004 Vernon passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Sunday afternoon, after a long courageous fight with cancer. [/i][/color]
