Corner

here I am standing on this corner of time
once so sure of where life would lead me
now knowing nothing has ever been certain
of all the goals I have had in my life
none ever mattered but one
to share my soul with one who could be real
love has come and love has gone
precious ones who gave so much yet time moved on

looking out from my perch as the world rushes by
I start to see a truth
what it really is that would make my life complete
not the money so many seek
not the beauty they think they see
not the wisdom of the ages
not the lack of any sense
not the strength that comes with age
or the innocence of youth

I seek someone to stand beside me
someone who would never leave
as all have done before

This is perhaps the one thing everyone truly wishes and longs for, is it not? Hearts are unfortunately tainted with the lure of pain and heartache, which halts and deepens our sorrowful search for someone to hold and love and be loved by for all of time... Beautiful poem, Nevermore!
