He is the angel dressed in black... The one who once fell to his knees In hopes of seeing an angel. He’s wearing black, For the sick, the lonely and the old And in memory of those That are dying and dead.
He stood his ground In this cruel world And didn’t let anything Or anyone drag him down. When the world pushed Johnny, He simply pushed right back, And never backed down.
We tried to stand him At the gates of Hell, like he sang, But Hell wasn’t his eternal home. God took the weight off his weak soul And let his spirit be unchained. Now, he’s sitting in his empire Wearing his crown.
The silence of a star, lights up the purple sky As we all mourn the loss of the man in black. The man in black who left us Feeling so lonesome we could cry. I wrote a tearstained letter that day, To let my dad know that The man in black who couldn’t cry...died. Hey, Johnny, we still miss someone too; We miss you!

CJ, welcome back to Poet Club. It's great to have you with us once again. This poem was very good, I was never a very big Johnny Cash fan, however, I've always found him to be an intriguing man. I also love black, and the phrase "man in black", so I think that's cool, great write.

I also enjoyed his work. I'm not that much of a fan but, I do like his attitude, his ora. Just all that he represented. The darkness or life and his soul. He was a great artist. Great write CJ! Keep it up !!
