Stark white branches bereft of life, by the riverside in dark of night. Strewn on banks, carried by currents from who knows where, are snared parts of trees that once reached high, now broken, brought low, made to go where the river flows. While in river there is life abundantly being. Cast to river banks now dead wood, which life partakes of,it is good. River creatures build their dens, beavers building dams. Cold fishing people light wood afire for to warm their hands, or to have some light, in a season we call summer, in warm starlit nights.

Smiling softly; I lived this poem this last weekend, fishing with my son on a cold, drizzly day... we beached the boat, gathered up the whitened driftwood, and built a small fire there on the bank... and later cooked the fish we caught, and ate the fish as we watched other branches drift downstream, swirling, sometimes submerging, sometimes catching on the shores...
Beautifully done, Todd; thank you

You indeed live a grand life Sir. Todd this piece was magnificent. It also inspires me now. Also, the story Ghose has portrayed before us inspires me greatly. Good Job!
