“Lion Queen, Beautiful Beast” or “Storyteller”
- By Lianna (imaginary goddess #5)
The stars gaze upon me - like lazy eyes
Of a willowy jaguar lounging in the midday heat
Its emerald eyes, ridding me of shadows
I’m awake, startled and tousled
Guided by the sweet, sultry scent
like pulchritude’s blossoms, lost
Drunk on passion fruit and mint tea leaves
Led by an invisible love chain, to her
Her face, the goddess’s, an echo
Of shattered stars and cosmic fairy dust
Charmed - the lion queen - proud and sure
As her lips, lush as crushed velvet violets
Pouring waterfalls of wisdom, stories - bathing me
In stars of pride, tradition, trust, love, joy
Stained glass windows cover my vision
Visions, dreams, of a crimson rose, bending
Over - somnolent from the journey of
A beast’s only hope
Its ancient soul profound with knowledge
Fragile with half-hearted strength
An enchanted garden, with hibiscus buds
And magenta impatiens, slender, elegant roses
In hues of blush and reddened burgundies.
Emerged from within this fragrant fantasy
The beautiful beast, misery lurking in its
Blackened eyes - eyes of liquid petals, my own
As he, I, changed into a prince, truly the
Beauty’s prize
And sometimes I wish, I was still
That beautiful beast - howling in the
Injustice of my lonely past
