Faith?

(most of my works being posted right now are pre written within the last year, but this one popped out tonight.)

Once,
such a long long time ago
it seems a life time gone now
when she stood at my side
from oceans between us
to laying side by side
from loneliness of the days
to a family in our own light
I sit here and remember
the long nights talks
hours and hours of understanding
playing twenty questions so frequent
we knew each others lifes in side out
the little things others could not see
the secrets we would hide away
so the world would never see
thse that would see us
said we never could belong
your world so free and moving
my world looking for structure and love
yet there we were together
proving the old sayings
that reality is stranger then all fiction
still forces did all that could be
to push us as far as life could seperate
drift as we did under the strains of misunderstanding

now so far from each others hearts
late in the darkest of nights
the yearning for the simplest dreams
just to hear our voices touch
over distances that fall between our thoughts
no matter who we lay with
thoughts come back to each others arms
a yearning for a simple touch
bringing tears to the eyes
of two who never could cry in youth
two hearts meant to live as one
yet life draws lines in our paths
which we follow unquestioning of fate
we never could know anothers hearts desire
yet both we know this love is eternal
not for knowing anothers hearts desires
for these two hearts are one


I sit by this little black box sometimes
wishing for that certain sound
the sound that brings you home to me
our little ways of touching softly
to hear you say you love me still
knowing your voice understands
I love you for all time
life grows dim as time goes by
memories of your face touch my mind
as the lights slowly start to flicker
for only you could understand
why you are my life now and always
I still reach out my hands
asking for you to come home to me
to find the strength to do your hearts yearning
trusting enough in this love
to fall backwards with your eyes closed
knowing that when the floor came up to meet you
my arms will catch you and hold you
caring for your every need for life


I am still here awaiting the time
when your heart aches more then you can take
then you make that simple choice
that will be harder then all things past
I offer you these hardships and pain
the lonely hours leading to years
that standing beside me would bring
though with all the trials that would remain
our love would burn just as strong
as it has since you first answered your phone
so is this all just a dream in time
something that will never be
because we do not have the strength
to stand our ground and take it
I will give still more again
though I have given al there was to give
for tis love I feel in side this soul
is still ours today and tomorrow
this band remains in waiting for you
waiting for your finger to belong
this sword belongs to you m'lady
I pledge it still faithful to our love

That was well done, I wish I could keep one going for that long. You can tell more of the story. Whenever a long one comes out it is usual small poems combined. I liked the fullness of yours.

Mike, you know, I can not normally write the long ones either and if you are anything like me, one day a long one will come out all on it's own, like this one did on me. I sat down to write what is normal for me and it just flooded out. It is one of very few so long with a real depth.
