so many years I have seen this life
so many times I have seen peoples pain
my life has led me through thorny times
and I have been bled by others deceit
so seldom in my days I have seen
true loves walking the sandy shores
never in my years of pain
did I ever walk those sands with love
many times, I have walked a lonely path
and many times I carried someone
But the sun is rising on me now
someone has shown me how to walk in the sand
you walk beside me now,
when I falter, you take my hand
you never walk in front of me
you never walk behind me
you always walk right beside my side
proud to be where you are
you show me this chance to start again
to learn the way that love can smooth the road
you give me your youth and your tenderness
you hold me when I try to give it all up
