Author's note: In January of 1975, the divorce was well under way when my ex-to-be (April) made overtures of reconcilation... this was the poem that resulted...
Dream II ...for April
When night falls softly
and the winds call your name,
I dream... Of walking, hand in hand,
along mountain streams
running clear and deep;
hearing the calls of grouse and quail,
feeling the gentle kiss of cedar-scented winds
upon our faces... of lying, side by side,
in meadows of alpine lily
under gentle spring sun
as flights of geese wing north,
their calls sounding faintly in the winds... Of holding you, in my arms,
as we lie by a campfire
canopied by spruce and pine
beneath the sparkling sky
while coyotes sing in the quiet night... Of a home, snuggled deep within the forest,
nestled against the flank of snow-capped mountains
--of holding you, by the crackling fireplace,
as snow falls softly in the night... © T. GhostWolf Davidson, January 10, 1975
