If only I had the time
I’d write you a poem
I’d tell of the color of your eyes
And how it captures the world
In its beauty and splendor
The majesty that spring brings
That leaves me in awe
I’d tell of the perfect bow
Your lips are mold into
And the words they have uttered
The arrows they have shot
That wound and heal my heart
If only I had the time
I’d sing you a song
I’d sing of the angelic voices
I hear whenever you speak
And the whisper of the wind
And the echoes of the waves
Caught within the pretty shell
I’d sing of the praises
Meant for you only
No deity can grasp
No god can understand
None but you in your realm
If only I had the time
I’d offer you more
I’d kiss you forever
In a warm embrace
And bathe you with smiles
Tender breath on your cheeks
Soft silky touches
I’d paint you a world
Where you and I lay
In a sea of gold and amber
Gazing at a delightful future
Woven across the horizon
If only I had the time
I’d give you all these
But now I’m too caught up
With everything else
That I forget all those
I see, I hear, I feel
In you, in me, in us
I forget all the other times
The song, the poem, the praises
The kiss and the warm embrace
You and I and the promises
Would never be felt nor painted
Because at this moment
All I have
Is all
