before friends and family.


Would you press your lips to mine
so our hearts may intertwine.


Would you gently take my hand
and always understand.


Would you steal my heart away
laughing with me every day.


Would you dry away my tears
through the coming years.


Would you shoulder half my pain
withstanding any strain.


Would your heart be mine alone
and never turn to stone.


Would you promise not to lie
nor ever say goodbye.


Would you stroke my graying hair
reassuring you still care.


Would you guard my fragile heart
vowing we will never part.


Would you answer my heart soon
beneath the crescent moon.


Should you answer “yes”
my heart you will possess.


Should you answer “no”
my heart will bid you go.
