The Sea
The waves slake their salty thirst with gurgling slurps and sighs Their tongues curling like mindless snakes hissing and spitting at the air Sucking at the flotsam that is me and drawing me into the sea’s deep belly, Where my face contorts and the children of light play reverently amongst Rumbling boulders, amid echoing cathedrals of green, They pluck the heaven sent shafts and make them ping, Music to the clam, the octopus, the fish and the eyeless corpse.
The sands sigh with soft satisfaction as the sea slakes its salty thirst. Falling back breathing in deep for another chattering onrush. Then collapsing at my feet, waves insinuating themselves away like wary snakes Waters fall back taking with them leaping tumbling grains, Sea imps to those with bottle glass eyes.
