Hi all;
I've been very sick since the beginning of June, spending some of that time in the hospital to get kidney stones removed by catheritization/laser surgery. The doctors installed a stent to bypass the most severely damaged area of the left ureter, though thanks to the jaggedness of the stone fragments a large portion of the ureter has been damaged. It is incredibly painful. To put it in perspective, on ne of my doctors said she'd had kidney stones once, and has given birth three times - and she would rather go through birth pains.
Also spent time recovering from a home shop accident wherein a large router blade disconnected from the router and gouged a hole in my chest down to the bone. Had it hit me an inch higher, it would have torn my throat out. To put it mildly, that awareness of how close I came to death has shifted many of my perspectives and attitudes towards what is important in life and what is not.
Last but not least, the death of my grand-aunt has opened quite a few doors to the past; as my genetic mother and her sister are now sharing things about the past that they previously had not - and it has opened up a whole can of worms that hopefully will be resolved sometime in the next month.
I'll try to visit the board as I can; I'm still very weak and in considerable pain. The stent will be removed in about two weeks, which means going through the pain of catheritization all over again; not fun at all.
