Persephone,
that's very close to what I believe.

NeverMore, With the use of Xtian I am not attempting to degrade the Christian relgion. I was using the term Xtian in the same way that you would type Xmas for Christmas. It is not there to obliviate the word Christ, I was only being lazy. And john, You lost me with that last post of yours buddy.

I'm not sure which religion this is, but I believe that every person needs to figure out his point in life, and the meaning of life, whatever it may be, to make him or her happy. I do not believe in a supernatural being, though.

I'm Pentecostal. My dad was a pastor until I was about ten or 11, so I grew up in a church. I believe everything that is in the bible. I think it is very interesting to hear about other religons, just to learn more about the people who follow them.

Was your father licensed with the United Pentecostal Organazation? If so, what was your fathers name? My father is also a pastor here where I am from.

I kind of am my own religion which changes as things I see and hear and epiphanies come to me. I went to private Catholic Schools so I have a good foundation for the common religions and beliefs predominant in the US. I think I believe in reincarnation and that reincarnation is the evolution of the essence of the soul. I believe the King James Version of the Bible is an acronym: Basic instructions before leaving Earth. It is a set of rules for people to get along well in life. I believe it was translated from thousands of years old languages and was up to the opinions and views of translators. Jesus was a beautiful Human and a Godsend to all who had dealings with him because this is written in Roman History. If he was the Son of God I will change Gods because I will pay for my own sins and a God who allows this to happen to his son is a God who I would fear to leave my immortal soul in his hands to protect. Am not even sure Jehovah is Male because I feel women are more capable of love than men. As we go through lives we live and see all places and things imaginable to a mortal. Then we die and go to something higher, whatever is higher than that is unimaginable at this point in our existence.

That is an interesting concept. One idea about this higher existence is that souls come from a collective being, an oversoul, we are distributed through different planes of existence to give more exp to the oversoul, when the oversoul has learned all it wants from this plane, we will be moved to another. Possibly higher, but it could be lower...

Those are interesting theories Mike, that's why I love this discussion.

Hmmm interesting subject here... To be honest im not sure what i believe. i guess you could say i believe in God or a higher power as other might say.. but with my background and the different things that i have learned im not sure..... I was brought up Catholic...went to sunday school and church pretty much every sunday while living in my mothers house... went to a Lutheran elementary school and then went to a Catholic high school... Lutheran and the Cathloic religions are totaly different and while enrolled in each of these school i was required to take a religion class.. i learn the many different things in each school and even learn about different relgions in high school.. i even practiced a bit of wicca while in high school... i guess from what i learn from these things is total and utter confusion... i believe bits and piecesfor all different relgions... yeah i know sounds screwed up LOLbut thats who i am and i guess thats how i believe... TJ and John will probably sit down and talk to me about this later LOL maybe not but i will be half expecting it LOL.. My main thing is i dont beleive that you must go to church every sunday to believe in god or even to worship and praise him.. what i believe is my belief i dont force it upon anyone... yes i may be different but this is who i am if im wrong well only time will tell

Don't worry about John and TJ. They are very open minded when it comes to other ppl's beliefs. The "talking to" you are worried about won't happen. I got here a year ago and everyone has pretty much been conditioned to adversity.
You and your views are welcome.

well here goes my philosophy (let me apologize for any and all spelling errors up front, as i'm sure there will be many)
i accept the possibility of their being a "God" or higher power of some sort, i accept the possiblity that we came to be entierly by chance. a higher power is by its very own definition above me, beyond my relm of comprehention, so i don't see a point in spending my life trying to comprehend it. i was rasied catholic, and i just think theres too much blind faith involved to beleive it as a fact, and i think this holds true for all religions (i could be wrong, i have not studied many religions). if there is any degree of blind faith involved in somthing, i will not accept it as a definite truth, but if there is any scrap of logic to it, i will accept it as possibility. now this is a bit out there, but the movie "the matrix" is a good example of this philosophy (but it is nto however how i developed this philosophy). in the movie, everything people in the matrix hold as true is actually fake. the simplest facts that i hold to be true (1+1=2 for example) could be fake, and my brain just tells me that it makes sense and is true. there is always a possibility for somthing to be wrong. if there is always a possibility of being wrong, then theres no way to be entierly sure that you're correct. so instead of trying to pick a religion and set of beleifes, i've elected to live my life as what i think is a good person. what i think a good person is will probably change over the years, as will i in attempt to fit the idea i form.
so thats my 2 cents.
