hey guys,
ive posted a few links at other sites with poetry boards(maybe 15?) and i have emailed about 30-50 poets about poet club.. i was just thinking that if we all put in a bit of effort we would be able to gain more members. if we all get the word out we will definately have more poets joining and posting their work here. there is no reason to not let this site grow into something incredible.. we just need to put a little extra work in.
i realize that most of us dont have all that much free time(i did a bunch of site promotion a little while ago when i had the week off work and cant find the time for it now) .. but even just a little can go a long way.
what do you guys think?

I totally agree with you and back you 100% in what you are doing. This is exactly what I told our first Poet Club members from day one. Go out and tell your friends and family, spread the word. TJ and I make flyers and post them in different places. We email others and PM them. I only wish I had more time to do so myself as I did with Coffee House. But yes, let's do this. And I am very thankful to have members here who are really interested in helping the site out and making it progress. Thank you all.

We certainly need to step up promotion a good bit in order to bring more members in. Please spread the word to all of your friends and fellow poets. Get the word out, invite. It's the only way we are going to make Poet Club grow.

phoenex youre really one of the most well meaning people ive met. and i only ever found this place because of your email... but i think theres more to this finding and keeping people than sending out messages and emails.
i think the primary reason why this place seems so stagnant is that the people that are already here arent as involved as they should be. i know i shouldnt be talking since i myself havent been contributing very much.
before we go beyond what we already have here we should first really get together and get involved. i dont see the kind of activity that there should be. a new member coming here and seeing a stagnant board isnt very likely to stay.
so i think we need to clean up our act before trying to get more people here - and i think i need to be the first to take a few steps. ive been very lax in the time and attention that im investing here but then again i havent had much to spare.....
think about it....

yes. i completely agree with you, alex.
i know that i would be contributing a lot more if there was more poetry to respond to.. i thrive on that. ive had writers block for the last few months and im having problems getting poems done on a regular basis.
i was just thinking that with recruiting new members that some would stick around and post poetry and become involved. obviously this hasnt been working out as i thought it would.
im not really sure how we could become more active here.. im trying my best, but it doesnt seem good enough.
then again, i guess its just a busy time of year for everyone right now.. people are getting back into the swing of school and work after the holidays.. it seems that most poetry boards are pretty empty lately.
i dont know.. im out of ideas for now. what are the rest of you thinking? how can we get this place more active?

i'm not exactly sure how to go about it either...i think all the poetry websites are getting that way though...i mean...i think the websites were like a big fad, but like most fads they fade and separate the people who were just doing it to say...hey look at me i belong to a poetry site and the people who are actually dedicated...
as for me...i know i'm busy and all, and i kinda have a bout of writer's block...but it's more that i haven't had anything to write about than that i can't write...i just need to take the time to sit down and write...
anyway..i'll try thinking a little more about what we can do to get it rolling again....

This is so true. So many poetry websites are growing very lax in thier efforts. Active members are so hard to find now-a-days. These major corporated websites are drawing them in quicker than we can invite them. It is also true to the fact that websites were a fad that is slowly fading out. Manby of our fellow friends at the first Poet Club have tried thier luck at websites and failed. Many have just lost the lust for the art. People's greed and lust for power has also led them to create some of these websites. I am also very short on time and I cannot commit myself any better at this time. However, I assure you that Poet Club is not a fad at all. It was and still remains the evolution of poetry. The website that will bring about the next era. We all have to work together to make this website great.
Good Luck and God Speed, Tj

this code will give you the poet club logo. if you are to click on the logo you will be directed to this site. if john and tj dont mind, im sure this would be a good way to promote poet club on other proboards sites(im not sure if this code will work on other message boards other than proboards.) it would work perfectly in signatures!

Well, I've posted the PC logo on the old site and on Coffee House to promote the new site, I also used the logo as a banner in the "History" section of this site with a link to the old site. What I do is I put the link in my signature and profile on various sites. And yes, the logo/link works on other boards as well, it's on our old site on sudden launch. Thanks for all of your help. We appreciate it very much. And everyone please continue to promote PC.
