I lay in the impression your body once made in our bed and wonder how long the pillow will remain warm
the silence only makes me hear you more as the dark weight of the hours drag behind me
our bed burns of love no more as I ponder a jealous heart with a will to know
who will be tasting that rich body of yours now
like a mad woman staring into her secrets I seek to know how long I will remain a hope junkie
the slam of the door doesn't abate my hunger for you even knowing my begging letter has fallen upon uncaring eyes
living becomes a stranger as I cling to remembering what day it used to be
every room I walk into is vacant as I desperately try to save myself from daggars drawn quick to show a just revenge
I know now I'm hard to hear still clear to see that when you left
you administered the lash and I ended up eating the bitter bread of banishment

hello navadasky. i like your piece, i thought i'd let you know. thank you for not pounding us with four-line couplets and dr. seussy rhymes. i love your subtlety, how you stretch sentences to make the time congeal. it's nice. good job as always.
