Citrus sharpness of orange peel under fingernails,
the pungence that moves on light feet,
stinging fresh gashes cut in the skin,
as blood smudged into dirty walls,
and crushed onion rasps the tongue.
A shapeless form.
A figure constantly lurking behind you,
a flicker from the corner of the eye,
a movement gone unseen, on the edge of sight.
The billowing curtains in the wind of a silent movie,
beheld by shrouded figures in a vague light,
A distant scream muffled into a pillow,
the suffocating silences, soundless cries, gagged words,
suppressed screams.
A strangers eye peering from a familiar form,
as fear lays down to die.
