today I had the sweetest dream
of days that saw the sun
there was you and me, and that little girl
living and having fun
each time i woke
then closed my eyes
the dream began again
the same beginning every time
the same through the waking
but the dreams are in the making
rainbows are in the reaching
touching that pot of gold
dreams are for the dreamers
in there you never can get old
so as I open my eyes to begin this day
go on loving you I shall
even if the dream is just a dream
