Sisters and Brothers
2/11/04

Picket lines convey the times
as brother turns against kin
Guns are toted everywhere we go
and the terrorism begins

Platforms of peace are discarded
for a few extra votes
Musicians forget the lyrics
and lose sense of the notes

Athletes are overpaid
and our teachers have started to quit
I can feel safe in saying
our world is going to sh*t

Friends turn to enemies
and enemies are our new friends
People look forward now
to the time it will all end

Hatred is rampant
in streets and homes
no work for you here they say
and so he continues to roam

Parents beat their children,
one spouse kills the other
it seems we've forgotten
we're all sisters and brothers

In a world filled with hate
it seem there's only one discourse
and though we continue to fight
things only seem to get worse
