I wrote this for a friend of mine. So I think the best place for it is here.

You were there
When I was falling
When life looked bleak
And when my flame
Was almost extinguished
You were there
Right beside me
You gave me
What I needed
Ignoring
What I wanted
Because of you
I did not shatter
And I’m burning
More brightly
Than before
Without you
I’d be dead
Air would still pass
Through my lungs
Blood would still flow
Through my heart
But
My soul
Would be shattered
You saved me
From that horrible existence
Thank you
