for a while you were lost, but now you have been found
i knew if i left you alone that you’d eventually come around
it hurt me to see you the way i knew you weren’t
but finding out for yourself is the best way for a girl to learn
my heart was broken in two the day you said we were no longer friends

hearing you say what you said let me know the real you was back
i missed hanging out with you and the wonderful times we shared
at that time i didn’t understand; this just didn’t seem fair
but now i understand completely why things like this are allowed
how sometimes it’s best to let your friends hang w/ the wrong crowd
because eventually they’ll realize just who they really are
and that things like that just won’t take you very far
why screw up your whole life just to be accepted as “cool”
when only a few see you as that; to the world you’re seen as a fool
i love you w/ all my heart, that will never change
my love for you, my friend, will always stay the same
there will always be a place for you in that little spot in my heart
and this is something that i have known from the very start
i’m glad you’re back on the right path and i hope this is where you’ll stay
and if ever you feel you’re slipping off, i’m here to show you the right way

Wow. I can *really* relate to this. My best friend and I are going through some rough times in our friendship where she wants to give up on life and I just can't see her do that. It hit me really hard and has a lot of power behind that punch. Very awesome write. I love how you wrote it. It means so much to me.
