"They say music can alter moods and talk to you, but can it load a gun up for you and cock it to?"
- Marshall Mathers
(I know this is a song lyric, but it's just a classic line that I love so much because it is too true)

This is a great lyric or quote, very true, almost saddening.

that's true and it's sad that some people have tried using tv and music as an excuse for their behaviors...they can influence you, sure, but they can't make you do anything...it's a character flaw that's already there that does it....good quote fox!!

Music is powerful, but it's like anything else, something must already be in a vulnerable state in order to be seduced by the song into doing something.

I do not agree with the idea that a character flaw must be present before you are able to kill someone. The idea that one man can not kill another because it is wrong is something that I don't agree with.
The concept that one mans voice can seduce you is an interesting one. But, no matter what you are told to do, or believe, it doesnt make it right, or true. So, then if that is the case, how can a song that has nothing to do with shooting up your school be used as an excuse?
For example, Marilyn Manson. He was blamed as the source of all the issues that where created in the chlidren that shot up columbine. When infact, the kids didn't listen to him. They thought his music was too weak. Not "heavy" enough, if you will. But, the media didn't care. It was easier to balme him, since no one understood him, then to blame the parents, who should have been paying enough attention to their children to know what was going on in their lives.
So, music can imply solutions to problems that we all face. Not nessacarily good ones or bad ones. But the responsibility to decide for yourself what is right and wrong is still on the individual. However, if you are a minor, or very immature young adult, your parents still decide what is good for you. If that is the case then why don't we find them responsible? And why not lock up the parents for the actions of the kid? They sure don't care for the kid if they can't tell you what the kid listens to, or what video games he plays.
But, stupidity is allowed to flourish. Because we are too afraid of hurting ppls feelings.

Interesting quote. It reminds me of the whole Columbine incident and the arguement that playing violent video games makes someone want to go out and kill something.
