life goes on

this person plays that person
innocent little lives
where the time passes quicker
with words said in jest
thought seldomn
crosses the minds of the players
that words like the numbers
they add up so quickly

everyone playes them
everyone enjoys
then somewhere in laughter
the reality hits

the little white lies
turn into little made plans
then follows the secrets
that crush all our hearts

when all things are done
those sad little games
come right back to haunt us
then swiftly kill our dreams

one little game
is all that it takes
to kill the hopes
we thought we worked for
