You Told Me

You told me you would hold me
when I shivered in the night
with your body you would fold me
to ease my fright
so in the silence of the darkness
when the demons called my name
I turned and sought your nearness
but you never came

You told me you would touch me
at least twenty times a day
a kiss, a glance, a quick caress
no matter come what may
so when I went about my business
when there were duties to be done
I turned and sought your kisses
but they did not come

You told me you would love me
love me 'til the end of time
however life might try us
come rain or shine
so when i woke up in the morning
from a night of restless fears
I turned and sought your loving
but found only bitter tears

dang... your rhymes... i wish i could rhyme like you... the first stanza was just whoa... "cool rhyme" and it never gets boring... it kinda makes me wanna hug my boyfriend right now...

You remind me of someone that I have hurt her heart.
It hurt mine as well but she needs not know that, or perhaps if it would give her any consolation then she should. Your poem was deep and well rhymed.

this was sad, but oh so true, i really loved this as well, the rhyming was great, and not only could i make sense of it but in a way that lots of people can relate, well done!!!!!! ;D
