Perhaps
if you simply ignore
what others look like,
and let go of all your prejudices,
and maybe even try...
Perhaps
if you listen to them,
and listen well,
and even encourage the talking,
and even respond...
Perhaps
if you take a chance
to really get to know them,
and find out their favorite type
of music, or color, or movie...
Perhaps
if you try to understand them
and try to acknowledge them
and try to befriend them
and even learn to trust...
Perhaps then our society won't be
dead.
