Babbling Brook May 17, 2004 10:49 pm
Walking through the forest you smell the grass, crunching beneath your feet and hear the babbling of the brook which runs icy clear nearby. woodland creatures gather in the glen ears facing forward noses lifted for sensing danger.
As the sun sinks lower in the sky you realize you're deep in the brush. high above the trees shadow your view and the ground is unfamliar. no footprints behind you and the creatures are gone. you listen, but hear nothing.
A shiver of fear snakes your spine and you head towards the sun hoping to find a way out before it's gone. but the dark engulfs you. you stop and collect yourself fear must not rule. nothing is chirping or stirring and the quiet crashes on you like a piano dropping from a high building.
You panic and run feeling thousands of hands grabbing at your clothes knives gouging, slashing your flesh. thick tar sticks to your shoes dragging you down keeping you from escape you fall and feel the hands grasping until blackness takes you as pain explodes into fireworks in your head.
As you awaken with a start you realize the bed isn't really that far to fall from. and it was all a dream
