Me, Myself, and I
Please let me take off this mask,
I am afraid to take it off,
I feel naked without it;
Please give me the freedom
That I could never taste

Without that mask,
You can see the true me,
The pessimistic, careless, unobservant, ugly slob,
The foolish child that I really am,
The ever-questioning hypocrisy,
The boring, lazy rock whom
You will come to hate

The crazy one who has mastered
The art of silence,
The one who shakes as violently
As an earthquake,
Can act so pathetically
Constantly avoiding the people, the judges,
I need to escape from this evil world

I hate who I have come out to be…
The face in the mirror staring back at me
Has become my despised enemy...
I want to break you!
I want to feel the shattered shards of glass
Cutting into my bloody hand
In a wonderful sensation of pain

Not good enough,
These expectations are all
Weighing me down so,
They are too much to bear,
I shall become a failure, rejected

Too scared to talk,
Too scared to show,
Too scared to smile,
Too scared to insult,
Too scared to rebel,
Too scared to do anything anymore

I hate fear controlling my life…

wow...there are so many raw emotions in this piece...i actually have felt a lot of this in my life, so i know what you're talking about. the last line of this poem really ties it together in a powerfully emotional and emphatic way...great job!
