Someday I’ll be old and when I am an old wrinkled man, I shall wear a leisure suit just like all the other old men, complete with a ball-hat which doesn't match what I wear and doesn't really suit me, but what do I care.
I will spend my social security check (providing there is one) on cheap beer and medium grade fishing line and tell people I have no money but that I’m living just fine.
I’ll sit on the front porch swing and watch the security light blink on in the early evening dusk and sleep in, while it blinks off. I can wear terrible unsightly shirts and in the summer, wear shorts that match my white legs as long as I remember to sit in the shade.
My God, doesn’t it sound wonderful to be retired. Save me a seat in case I’m late and want to keep working for awhile.

Mac, I like. Reminds me of what a mate of my father's said. He said he grew up in a small beach house on a small secluded beach in the middle of nowhere. He'd spend his days out on his boat fishing, writing, reading, and watching non-stop cricket during the summer. When he was twenty five, he moved to the city to make his fortune. He spent the next forty years working like a dog to save enough for his retirement. When the day came, he was thrilled. He could finally buy a little beach shack on a secluded beach, and spend his days on his boat fishing, writing, reading, and watching non-stop cricket during the summer.

hhmmm...by the sound of the last line i'm not sure that you're looking forward to it at all...i know i'm not...although it does paint a wonderful picture of carefree days...ones that unfortunately, seem to be slipping away as we progress farther and farther into the 20th century....great piece mac and welcome to poet club!
