So Old for One so Young
I'm so young My heart's never been broken By true love So inexperienced that Everyday things are new My eyes still fill with wonder At the moon and the stars In the dark of the night
I'm so young I still sleep with my teddy bear So ignorant I believe in a good day I still enjoy watching the sunrise And smile, hearing the birds sing At the rise of the sun
I'm so old My heart is weary So tired Of life's endless drama The world is changing before me As I watch, unable to join
I'm so old I'm full of wisdom A lifetime's worth of thoughts Crammed into 13 years I should not know such sorrow I should not know such pain
When you look at me What do you see? A fresh, bright person? Or someone so weary?
For I am both And also neither Forever ignorant And infinitely wiser

i really like this piece...and i can connect with it...somedays everything seems so fresh, so real, so good, but most of the time, things seem to be so fake...great job!

The loss of innocence, the death of childhood and the weight of the world makes one weary indeed...a very moving piece...

It's me agian, the one that reads the back of the book first *S* ... I enjoyed this poem. I wrote one like it when I was much younger. I seldom tell people my age because it has a habit of scaring people away. An old fool I is *L*... The feelings you had when writing this poem, pray they never leave. Even after you have a broken heart many times over, you will still be to young to understand and to old to want more. But one thing I can say very easy, for one yooung in years, you have years of talent in your written words. Life may be full of ups and downs, hold on to your writing as strong as you can, it helps and you do it so very well.
